About the event

Join Colorado National Monument Association to help preserve the historical benches at the Saddlehorn Amphitheater at Colorado National Monument. Learn a new skill related to the monument's maintenance and historic preservation.

About the Event:

The Saddlehorn Amphitheater reopened in Summer 2024 after extensive construction and renovation. However, the historical benches are in need of some TLC.

In late April the benches were sanded down to remove splinters. Now the prepped the benches are ready for linseed oil application by hand. The linseed oil application will help to provide wear and water resistance and help to preserve the wooden benches.

All equipment, including masks, gloves, eye protection, and shade canopies will be provided. CMNA is also providing snacks for all volunteers.

Funding for this project comes from a grant from Western Slope Outdoor Volunteers (WSOV) and Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO). The grant covers the material and equipment costs for the amphitheater bench…
