About the event
Friends of the River Uncompahgre are revegetating an area along the Uncompahgre River. Invasive Russian olives and Tamarisk are now being removed from the area by the West Slope Conservation Corps. ForU is looking for volunteers to plant 10 cottonwood trees and 30 native shrubs. Work will also involve caging the trees for their protection. Funding for this project is provided by the Colorado River District, Colorado Water Conservation Board and the City of Montrose. Please help!
Park in the lot where Ogden dead ends west of Home Depot. Walk to the river and cross the pedestrian bridge. We should finish work in about 2 hours with time after to enjoy refreshments and camaraderie. Snacks and water will be provided.
Note: This is event is suitable for youth ages 12 and older.
