About the event

Bullfrogs are an invasive species in the western United States. They pose a threat to native wildlife by 1) carrying diseases that can impact fish, amphibians, and reptiles and 2) preying on anything that moves, including native wildlife. Join Dr. Denita Weeks this summer in community-driven research that aids in conservation of our wildlife. Volunteers are needed to collect Bullfrogs from designated parks (only during collection events) so we can mitigate their impact on our native wildlife.

Training events will be held over zoom and are meant to educate volunteers about their role in data collection, local amphibians, the threat of bullfrogs, proper handling of the amphibians, and Q&A. Based on the email you provide and the training date you sign up for, I will send you a zoom invite sometime during the day of training prior to 7pm.

Zoom training options are available on:

  • July 23, 25, 31 @ 6:30pm
  • Aug 5 or 6 @ 6:30pm

Collection events will be offered after a volunteer completes training. Collection events will occur from 8:30-10:30pm at various locations throughout the valley that are covered under a scientific collection permit held by Dr. Weeks. There is a maximum capacity for volunteers at each collection event of 12. For every 3 live Bullfrogs submitted during events, volunteers will receive a beer, pizza, or ice cream voucher from one of our community partners. All volunteers will receive a prize for participation regardless of the number of bullfrogs they catch!

Collection events will be held on:

  • July 26
  • July 27
  • Aug 1
  • Aug 2
  • Aug 8
  • Aug 9
